Split a large PDF into smaller parts for email

Gmail and Outlook cap attachments at roughly 20–25 MB, and some company gateways reject far less. If compressing is not enough—or would make the pages unreadable—split the document into page ranges and send them as Part 1, Part 2, and so on.

Steps

  1. Note the total page count and the size limit you need to meet.
  2. Drop the PDF into Split and enter the first range, for example 1-40, then Extract & download.
  3. Repeat with the next range (41-80, and so on) until every page is covered.
  4. Check each part’s size; if one is still too large, use a smaller range or compress that part.
  5. Name the files Part 1 of 3, Part 2 of 3… so the recipient can keep them in order.

FAQ

Can it split automatically by file size?

Not yet. You choose page ranges; image-heavy pages take more space, so ranges may need adjusting.

Should I compress or split?

Compress first if the file is a scan. Split when the pages must stay sharp or compression cannot reach the limit.

Is a file-sharing link better?

Sometimes. If your recipient accepts links, a cloud link avoids attachment limits entirely; splitting is for when attachments are required.

What does it cost?

All six tools need an active plan: a 7-day trial (card required), then $2.99/mo or $19/yr until you cancel, or a one-time $1.49 24-hour pass.
